Sympathy card-Simon Monday Challenge

Image
I created this card for the Simon Monday Challenge  where the challenge is "Green". This is my attempt at painting with distress inks, stains and acrylic paint. Here are some of my supplies used. This paper is From the Teresa Collins Noel line. I distressed the cardstock with a sander until only a slight music image showed in various places. Next, I cleaned my work surface and paper. I used a Core'dinations Dust Buddy to wipe down my paper. Then with Archival ink, I inked the images onto cardstock. Directly on my craft mat, I pressed my Distress inks and stains. I also threw down some acrylic paint. First I painted using Distress Stain that had not been diluted. Then I added water to my distress ink and added a little bit of white Distress Stain to get a lighter blue and I highlighted the outer edges of my flowers. Next I mixed my blue and yellow Distress inks with some yellow acrylic paint and I diluted

Hello everyone! Even though the sun is setting on a Sunday evening, I hope your weekend has been well. We've had quite an adventurous weekend. Check out my previous post on Big News and you will quickly see why. Ok...so on to today's post. The patriotic red, white, and blue challenges goes on...The challenge at My Mind's Eye is red, white, and blue. But because this card has a couple of other elements in it, such as a pin and a "little stamping," I decided to enter it into the challenge over at Simon Says Stamp and Show and the Simon Says Stamp Challenge .       Materials used:   All patterned papers, journaling cards, ribbon and brads: My Mind's Eye Lush. FWF at Unity Stamp Co.-Farewell card

Image
It is Friday and time for FWF at Unity Stamp Co. This week has been full of emotions!! Even though I had to say farewell to a co-worker that is transferring to a company center in Florida, the week has been sprinkled with excitement. Some of the excitement I will have to save for a NEAR future post ;-) I am just not at liberty to share just yet, but when I do...I will burst at the seams!! But a couple of things that I can share: 1.) My previous post-Patriotic décor-was drawn at ODBD !! I won a $15 gift certificate! WOOT! 2.) I just found out this afternoon that the same project was picked to be in the designer spotlight over at Simon Says Stamp and Show blog!!! WOOT! WOOT! Here's my co-worker's card. I am gonna miss her shining face! I've tried coloring with Copics before, but my attempts were not so successful. I decided to take a leap and try again. I bought a colorless blender, but even then there is a learning curve. If anyone has advice...I am open to it!!!

Patriotic decor

There are a couple of patriotic challenges going on right now ( Our Daily Bread Designs , Simon Says Stamp Challenge ). After I found the Simon Says Stamp Challenge, I discovered that they have a vintage challenge as well ( Simon Says Stamp and Show ) and the Challenge is "Anything Goes"! This piece fits both categories, so I am going to enter it there also! After debating whether or not I wanted to do a card, I decided that I needed some patriotic décor for my home. So I made this piece with a built in stand on the back. After I made it, I realized that I could use this décor not only for the Fourth of July, but also for Memorial Day, and Veteran's Day!   I inked the gingham ribbon with Antique Linen distress ink to tone down the red and give it a more vintage look.    I used chipboard for my base and attached a ribbon stopper at the bottom to keep it from sliding. FWF Challenge-Birthday card

Image
It's FRIDAY!! Time for the FWF Challenge over at Unity Stamp Co. This is a card that I made for my cousin. Because her birthday is July 4th, I decided that she probably gets tired of patriotic colors for birthday cards. So I decided that I would go with some colors that still slightly reflect the holiday, but give her some individuality for her birthday.   Materials:   Authentique-Celebrate Flower-Sassafrass Ribbons-Hobby Lobby Sentiment-Unity Stamp Co. Wedding card

Image
Last Saturday evening, John and I attended a wedding where our son was the best man. He also played guitar and sang with his girlfriend. It's surreal to watch your kids move through phases of adulthood. There is a sense of awe and wonder along with a slight panic that you are really beginning to age. Regardless...the night was wonderful. It was outdoors on the bride's family farm and the weather couldn't have been more PERFECT!!! It was a gorgeous wedding!!! Very vintage and full of fun surprises...an old fashioned soda fountain, and who would have ever thought to have a popcorn bar (made fresh right there) with M&M's, nuts, gummy bears, Skittles, yogurt covered raisins, etc. as appetizers before the dinner!! Soooooo fun!!!! We had a BLAST dancing the night away!! Here's the card that I made for the beaming newlyweds!!!! I saw a card with this diecut somewhere and I couldn't remember where I saw it, otherwise I would give credit.   Materials:
