Masculine Birthday Card-Simon Says Wednesday Challenge

Time for a new card to post over at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. The challenge is to use a clear or a rubber stamp. I made this card for my cousin's husband who is an avid outdoorsman. I really like how my inking technique turned out to make this card look like a stroll through the woods on a crisp, foggy, fall morning. I have to give credit to the gal that inspired this card.

Patriotic decor

There are a couple of patriotic challenges going on right now ( Our Daily Bread Designs , Simon Says Stamp Challenge ). After I found the Simon Says Stamp Challenge, I discovered that they have a vintage challenge as well ( Simon Says Stamp and Show ) and the Challenge is "Anything Goes"! This piece fits both categories, so I am going to enter it there also! After debating whether or not I wanted to do a card, I decided that I needed some patriotic décor for my home. So I made this piece with a built in stand on the back. After I made it, I realized that I could use this décor not only for the Fourth of July, but also for Memorial Day, and Veteran's Day!   I inked the gingham ribbon with Antique Linen distress ink to tone down the red and give it a more vintage look.    I used chipboard for my base and attached a ribbon stopper at the bottom to keep it from sliding. FWF-Birthday card

I made this card for my aunt. I confused her birthday with my other aunt (her sister) and sent her a card two months early, but she never let on and thanked me so generously for making her a card. It wasn't til I got closer to her real birthday (looking ahead to see who I needed to make cards for) that I realized my mistake. So on her real birthday, I decided that I would send this card to let her know that I realized my mistake. I love it that Unity Stamp Co. sends the goofed up stamps in their kit anyway. They include a note about the mistake and explain that just because there is a mistake doesn't mean that we can't still use it in a creative way! Isn't that awesome!
